You're smart enough to know that wearing a helmet is an important part in driving safely but did you know that an improperly sized helmet can cause problems like pain, excessive wind noise, and even come off your head in an accident?

Make sure you follow the steps below to determine a proper starting point for your helmet size. Remember, these are only guidelines and you should visit your local dealership to make sure the size feels right.

1. Fit cloth tape measure snugly around widest part of head approximately 1” above the eyebrow, just above the ears and at the point on the back of your head that will give you the largest measurement for your motorcycle helmet size. If you don’t have a tape measure, then use a piece of string. Go around your head and then lay the string down on a ruler.

2. Find your head size in the chart below and then find the brand of helmet you are looking at to determine the size.

3. Safety dictates that if your head size falls between two of the motorcycle helmet head size ranges listed, order the smaller motorcycle helmet size since a motorcycle helmet needs to fit snuggly and will compress a little bit as you wear it.
